We near the end of autumn, my favourite season 🍂 The trees have been ablaze with colour, and I’ve drunk in every shade, feeling a little anxious that the next storm might sweep it all away. I take a deep breath and remind myself that autumn teaches us to let go, trusting that what falls away makes space for what comes next 🍁

Happy Samhain dear friends 🍂🕯️
This turning of the wheel feels like a time for retreat, quiet reflection and transformation, a moment to listen to the voice within.

Lately I’ve been exploring the ideas of Carl Jung, and it has been like opening Pandora’s box. My dreams and artwork have become deeply entwined, and themes of the anima and animus, archetypes, shadow self and alchemy have been manifesting through my work. The last time I based my art on my dreams was over two decades years ago while studying Fine Art at university, so this feels like a powerful return.

A new sculpture is emerging, inspired by The Great Rebis, the alchemical being that unites male and female, spirit and matter, light and shadow ✨ The body is made from a piece of wood found on a walk to Devils Gorge with my youngest child, two branches that had grown together to become one. Our dog, Sage carried it all the way back to the car 🐾🌲 The box beneath is an old brick mould holding the spiral from an antique clock, a symbol of time and eternal return.

This weekend I begin a hypnosis course at The Sanctuary of Healing in Langho, another journey inward that feels beautifully connected.

Wishing everyone a blessed Samhain. May we all find balance in the meeting of light and dark 🖤🌕

I had THE MOST AMAZING day at the Matchbox Treasures workshop facilitated by @greenman.glass 🔥✨ I can’t emphasise enough how much fun it was making these tiny worlds. This evening will definitely be spent scouring eBay for equipment and dreaming up my next little creation 🪄💫

Oh my, what an amazing evening at the private view of Emergence: Voices from Hope @zarigallerylondon ✨ I am filled with gratitude to Roozbeh and Georgina for their kind invitation to be part of this show and for all their support and guidance. It was also such an honour to meet so many talented artists and see their fantastic skills on show. The heartfelt speeches were also very inspiring. ✨ Vasilisa’s Doll and her clock box home are complete! Just in time, as tomorrow I travel to London to see her shadow, Baba Yaga, on display @zarigallerylondon .

In the tale, Vasilisa the Brave is gifted a magic doll by her mother. With her help, she overcomes Baba Yaga’s impossible tasks, separating grains, cleaning the house on chicken legs, and doing Baba Yaga’s laundry. The doll represents inner strength, inherited wisdom, and perseverance, and Vasilisa is rewarded with a flaming skull of fire.

I made my Vasilisa’s Doll thinking of my own female line. She carry’s quartz for intuition, lavender for calm, cleavers for renewal, and vervain for protection. She is a doll to be held, resting only in her clock box when weary. 🌿
