Happy heavenly birthday to my dad 🤍✨

He was an eccentric and creative soul. Although he’s no longer with us, our house is full of the things he made and painted. Wood carvings, intricate tapestries, his Celtic knotwork zodiac pieces. There are countless more paintings tucked away in the attic, far too many to ever properly display.

And then there were the wonderfully strange creations too… a purse made from his dog’s hair, a puppet made from roadkill (also stashed away in the attic!).

In the first photo he is selling his paintings outside the Bluecoat. You can also see him at Stonehenge as a young man which is, according to legend, where I was conceived😆.

I’ve recently been researching my dad’s family after doing a DNA test. His parents were both orphans and he never knew their family backgrounds but I’ve managed to trace his father’s family back to the 1680. I think about my dad a lot, even though he has been gone for a long while now. He often pops up in my dreams which I am grateful for. 🕯️🌿

I love living by the sea 🌊✨ I feel so lucky to be able to walk toward that vast horizon whenever I feel overwhelmed, hemmed in or tangled up in life’s demands. There’s something about the sound of the waves and that that liminal space where earth meets sea and water meets sky meets that I find deeply soothing.

I love collecting treasures along the shore too, tiny fragments of human detritus softened by salt, time and the elements, transformed into something new. Turning this forgotten flotsam and jetsam into meaningful pieces feels deeply symbolic to me. A reminder that we all carry discarded parts within us, aspects we reject or feel unsure about, yet which still hold value.

Studying NLP Indirect Hypnosis over the past few months has felt like building a bridge between my unconscious and conscious mind, gently inviting those forgotten parts to speak again. 🐚🕯️

Full moon blessings dear ones 🌕✨

I’m looking forward to gathering with friends later to make some healing tinctures together, which feels like a very healing way to mark this moon.

It’s been a difficult stretch. Family members in hospital, last minute changes of plan, long distance travel, and then finding myself dealing with injury and illness from overstretching. January felt like it lasted six months, yet February seemed to rush past in a blur, and suddenly here I am in March with sun on my skin and a small but steady sense of hope returning 🌿

In spite of the tribulations, there is light. I hope this this full moon find you well, wherever you are in your own cycle 🕯️

I’ve been experimenting with rust and patinas for a while now, squirrelling away little faces, shells and bones coated in metal paint and patina, letting time do its quiet work 🕯️✨

Over the last month I’ve also been playing with rust staining fabric. I’m completely in love with these earthy, weathered colours and the beautifully random patterns that emerge. It feels like collaborating with chance, allowing oxidation and time to become co-creators 🌿🧡

I’ve been really enjoying making this pigeon wall piece to sit alongside my crow 🐦✨

Did you know that in folklore pigeons and doves are often seen as messengers between worlds, symbols of peace, devotion and the soul? In some traditions they even carry prayers to the heavens or guide spirits safely onward.

I love that these beings we see every single day hold such quiet symbolism. Their iridescent feathers catch the light in the most magical way, shifting between greens, purples and blues. They are beautiful, and they are hardy. Ordinary and extraordinary all at once 🌈🕊️
