Hoylake Parade Community Centre 22nd February 2025
Flotsam Fables was commissioned to exhibit a collection of sculptures at this fantastic event, which brought together conservation groups and the local community to celebrate and protect the Dee Estuary.
Funded by the Heritage Fund, the event featured collaborations with Cheshire Wildlife Trust, Marine Conservation Society, Wirral Country Park, RECORD, British Divers Marine Life Rescue, and Our Dee Estuary. Visitors took part in beach cleans, litter surveys, and educational activities, including demonstrations on how stranded marine mammals are safely rescued and insights into the wildlife habitats of the Dee Estuary.
The Flotsam Fables sculptures were well received by both the public and partner organisations, offering a thought-provoking perspective on the day’s themes of conservation, sustainability, and our relationship with the natural world. In addition to the exhibition, I was invited to run a Flotsam Poppets workshop, where participants created their own symbolic figures using found materials from Wirral’s beaches, weaving in themes of positive mindset and transformation.
